Colorado Springs Weather Throughout the Year

Apr 29, 2026 | Blog Posts

Colorado Springs offers one of the most desirable climates in the country, combining four distinct seasons with an abundance of sunshine and relatively mild conditions year round. With more than 240 sunny days annually, low humidity, and a semi arid environment, the weather here is a major draw for both residents and those considering a move.

Winter in Colorado Springs runs from December through February and is often much more manageable than people expect. Daytime temperatures typically reach into the 40s while evenings can drop into the teens. Snowfall is common, averaging around 30 to 35 inches per year, but it rarely lingers for long. Thanks to consistent sunshine and periodic Chinook winds, snow often melts within a day or two. This creates a unique balance where you can enjoy a true winter feel without the prolonged harsh conditions found in other parts of the country.

Spring, from March through May, is the most unpredictable season. It is not uncommon to experience sunshine, snow, rain, and wind all within the same week. March is often the snowiest month, and late season snowstorms can extend into April and even early May. Temperatures gradually warm from the 50s into the 60s and 70s by late spring, but the variability keeps residents on their toes. This is a season where layering becomes essential and flexibility is key.

Summer, from June through August, is one of the highlights of living in Colorado Springs. Daytime temperatures typically range from the low to mid 80s, while evenings cool off into the 50s and 60s, creating a comfortable and enjoyable environment. The low humidity makes even the warmer days feel pleasant compared to more humid regions. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in July and August due to monsoon patterns, but they are usually brief and followed by clear skies. This season is ideal for outdoor living, from hiking and golfing to enjoying patios and mountain views.

Fall, spanning September through November, is often considered the best time of year. Early fall brings warm days in the 70s and even low 80s, paired with crisp, cool evenings. The air is clear, the skies are bright, and the scenery becomes especially vibrant as trees begin to change. By October and November, temperatures begin to drop into the 50s and 60s, and the first snowfall of the season may arrive. The overall feel is calm, scenic, and highly livable.

Throughout the year, Colorado Springs maintains a mild overall climate with relatively low precipitation and significant daily temperature swings. The dry air contributes to comfortable summers and more tolerable winters, while the consistent sunshine enhances the overall quality of life.

The bottom line is that Colorado Springs offers a climate that supports an active, outdoor oriented lifestyle in every season. It is a place where you can experience the beauty of all four seasons without the extremes, making it one of the most appealing environments for both current residents and those looking to relocate.
